Jason Provus MD is specialized in orthopedic surgery with extra fellowship training in orthopedic trauma surgery. This includes treating injuries to the bones, joints, and soft tissues resulting from traumatic events such as accidents, falls, or sports injuries. Orthopedic trauma surgeons are experts in managing fractures, dislocations, and complex bone injuries.
You should see an orthopedic trauma surgeon if you have experienced a severe injury, such as a broken bone, dislocation, or damage to your muscles, tendons, or joints, especially if it requires specialized treatment for proper healing and function restoration.
We treat both simple and complex fractures, including broken ankles, ankle fractures, wrist fractures (distal radius), broken hips, shoulder fractures, clavicle fractures, and tibia/fibula fractures. As an orthopedic trauma specialist, we provide advanced surgical and non-surgical care tailored to each injury to help patients recover quickly and safely.
We provide orthopedic trauma and fracture care for patients throughout western Wyoming and eastern Idaho. Patients frequently travel to our practice from Jackson, Pinedale, Victor, Driggs, Alpine, Afton, Star Valley, Swan Valley, Lander, and Riverton, as well as surrounding communities.
We understand that follow-up care after an injury or surgery can be challenging in a rural region. Whenever possible, we coordinate local imaging (X-rays, CT scans, and MRI) and rehabilitation services near your home to reduce unnecessary travel.
For added convenience, we also offer telemedicine and video visits for appropriate follow-up appointments. This allows patients in more remote areas to receive expert orthopedic fracture care without frequent long-distance travel.
Whether you’ve sustained a broken ankle, wrist fracture, hip fracture, or other orthopedic injury, we work closely with regional providers to ensure seamless care—from initial injury through full recovery.
Not all fractures require surgery. Some can be treated with non-surgical methods like casting or splinting. However, complex fractures, misaligned bones, or injuries involving joints may require surgical intervention.
During your first consultation, we will review your medical history, perform a physical examination, and may order imaging tests like X-rays, CT scans or MRIs. We will then discuss the diagnosis, treatment options, and a plan for recovery.
Recovery time varies based on the severity of the injury, the type of surgery performed, and the individual’s overall health. Some patients may recover in weeks, while others may take several months to regain full mobility.
In most cases, physical therapy is recommended after surgery to restore strength, flexibility, and function. We will create a personalized rehabilitation plan to help you achieve the best recovery possible.
Pain management options may include prescription medications, ice therapy, and physical therapy. We will create a personalized pain management plan to help you through your recovery.
As with any surgery, there are risks such as infection, bleeding, blood clots, nerve damage, and complications from anesthesia. However, we take every precaution to minimize these risks and ensure a successful outcome.
